A career as a floorcovering installer is one that is physical, satisfying, and lucrative.

Working Conditions:

  • Year round work – not seasonal

  • Indoor work

  • Residential and commercial

  • New construction

  • Renovation construction

  • Journeyman wages range between $35 and $50 per hour

  • Top wage earners can make in excess of $100,000 per year

 

Duties of the Floorcovering Installer:

 

  • Inspect and prepare subfloors

  • Learn various installation techniques

  • Measure, cut, seam and install a variety of floorcovering materials:

    • Carpet

    • Sheet vinyl

    • Vinyl composite tile

    • Hardwood and laminate flooring

 

To achieve your goal of becoming a floorcovering installer, a number of educational programs are available.

 

High school aged students have access to the RAP PROGRAM  and the  FLOOR COVERING 2.0 PROGRAM  (available in Calgary only). Apprenticeship training is available at N.A.I.T (in Calgary and Edmonton). Details of the course, costs and schedules are available at TRADESECRETS.
